  • Profile

Julia began working in the health field at the age of thirteen when she volunteered as a TAG (now known as candy-stripers), and she received an award for the most hours a TAG had ever volunteered.  In 1982, she received her degree in Surgical Fitting.  She followed this in 1986 with a certificate in Lymphatic Massage.  In 1987 her mother died and that experience dramatically impacted her professional career.
With the death of Julia’s mother this motivated her to return to school to obtain her degree in Naturopathic Medicine.  While attending school Julia started her own business called “That Special Fit”.  She became an independent contractor for Nihan and Martins and Sentry Drugs where she visited breast cancer patients in their homes and fitted them with prostheses.  She realized very quickly that “before you could fit a prosthesis you had to remove the edema or the swelling”.  With this concept in mind,  Julia continued her Lymphatic Massage education and became fully licensed in 1989.  She then rented her first office in Camelot Towers where she administered Massage Therapy and surgical fittings.   Julia then worked in conjunction with Dr. Eichmann, Dr. Schneider and Dr. Lenox fitting nursing bras and back supports for pregnant mothers.  Julia had a special pregnancy table made so that a pregnant woman could be on her stomach for a massage.  She continues her mobile service for private in-home visits to fit breast cancer patients in the privacy of their own home.
